De Gaard is a neighborhood shopping center where the redevelopment was completed in September 2020 and started in early 2018. As a result of this redevelopment, the shopping center has almost doubled in size and catering, (sports)facilities, homes, parking space and public spaces have been added. The shopping center has been transformed into a contemporary and multifunctional shopping area. Due to the redevelopment, the high visitor numbers and high floor productivity have increased even further. The current entrepeneurs have also seized the redevelopment to invest in their own shop.
Shopping center De Gaard is mainly focussed on daily shopping; it offers a national supermarket, fresh food specialists, drugstores, a florist and a liquor store. Due to the redevelopment, a number of national retail chains and a gym have been added to the shopping center. The duration of stay will be extended by adding catering establishments with a real neighborhood function.
Parking and accessibility
There are ample, (partially) free parking areas around the shopping center. The accessibility is good: De Gaard is located between several main roads and near an exit of the A27. Furthermore there is a good level of public transportation: various bus connections stop around the shopping center and there is a collaboration with Buurtmobiel (customized transport for and through the neighborhood).
