The Leonardo Hotel is located on the corner of Vredenburg and Lange Viestraat, in the heart of Utrecht city center. Originally known as Hotel Smits, the hotel was built in 1952-1954 at its current location. At the time, the Smits family owned a small national chain of hotels.

The property was purchased by Van der Vorm Vastgoed in January 2016. The hotel has 90 rooms and will be expanded with approximately 35 new hotel rooms over the next few years. In addition, the existing rooms will be upgraded. The ground floor and part of the first floor house a WE Store of approximately 1,100 m².

Recently, the operation of the hotel was transferred to the Fattal Hotel Group. In Europe, the Fattal Group operates under the banner of Leonardo Hotels.
