Gold for shopping center De Hoven in Delft!

From pioneering in the polder to future-proof shopping center.

In 2018, shopping center De Hoven Delft shopping center is celebrating no less than 50 years, a golden jubilee! They are going to celebrate this extensively throughout the year together with entrepreneurs and visitors. The party program 2018 is all about Future & Party!

A shopping center celebrating its golden jubilee and successful from the beginning has a beautiful and long history. 'In de Hoven' was commissioned by Van der Vorm Aannemingsbedrijf and built in 1967/1968, and after all these years the Van der Vorm Vastgoed Groep is still the owner of the shopping center. They have always worked to keep the shopping center 'future-proof' by relocating stores, expanding and connecting to other shopping areas in the immediate vicinity, fun events and promotions, and ensuring particularly good accessibility with the first three hours of free parking. And convenience serves the consumer at de Hoven with free WIFI, public restrooms and secure bicycle parking.

Right from the time of construction, there was a focus on flexibility and the retail units were built in such a way that they could be adapted to the future demands of the retailer and the trends that would follow. And so 19 years later, on March 21, 1987, De Hoven was officially reopened by Mayor van Walsum on the occasion of the now literally complete retail offer under one roof as the shopping center was completely roofed over. In 2010 the large parking garage with 550 parking spaces on Papsouwselaan was opened and around the shopping center the modern apartment complexes 'Living above de Hoven' have since been developed.

As Ben Kempers of Boekhandel Kempers, besides Vendet and De Gruyter one of the very first entrepreneurs in De Hoven, said; "it was pioneering in the polder." At the same time, things never stood still for too long, and the shopkeepers and Van der Vorm have always been consciously working on constantly developing their shopping center. In short; standing still is going backwards and the entrepreneurs of De Hoven and Van der Vorm therefore never stand still!
